Edwards Wines was established by the late Brian Edwards and his wife Jenny in the early 1990’s. Brian flew a Tiger Moth biplane from the UK to Perth in 1990 to commemorate WWII flights by Aussie aviators, and to raise money for the Legacy Fund. The beloved Tiger Moth “Matilda” resides today on the winery grounds. The Tiger Moth theme is built into the Edwards’ labels and is the spirit of the wines.

The wines of Mike and Christo Edwards have achieved critical success in the marketplace and are sought after by fine wine connoisseurs all over the world. We are pleased to bring these exciting wines to the USA market; you will find them in fine restaurants and wine shops.

2005 Edwards Shiraz

14.0% Alcohol

Vintage Conditions
Mild to warm. Late rain.

Harvest Date
28th & 30th March, 2005

Winemaking / Maturation
Gently vinified in stainless steel open fermenters. Hand plunged and basket pressed at dryness. 20% had up to 2 weeks extended skin contact. Maturation for 15 months in 25% new and 75% older French and American oak barriques.

Bouquet
Lifted licorice, wine gums and dark cherries overlay hints of red berries, white pepper, spice and tobacco leaf.

Palate
Up front sweetness of blueberries and blood plums flow through to spicy and savory characters of clove and anise. Well integrated French and American oak and silky lingering tannins provide refinement and elegance to the wine.

Mild to warm. Late rain

Harvest Date
30th March & 2nd April, 2005

Winemaking / Maturation
Gently vinified in stainless steel open fermenters. Hand plunged and basket pressed at dryness. 30% had up to 2 weeks extended skin contact. Maturation for 18 months in 25% new and 75% older French oak barriques.

Bouquet
Lifted cassis and blackberries overlay hints of chocolate, spice and earthiness. Cedar and savoury notes from the French oak integrate seamlessly with the fruit.

Palate
Savoury and earthy notes flow through from the nose and dominate the front palate. Sweet and luscious dark cherry characters provide a rounded yet elegant wine with the ample yet subtle tannin and cedary oak providing length and finish to the wine.

Complex, broad, developed toasty/gooseberry nose. Tightly structured palate with nice lime/lemon fruit. Cellaring time 2014.

Cool to warm.

Harvest Date
20th March, 2006

Winemaking
100% barrel fermented in 25% new and 75% older French Oak barriques. Matured for 10 months with battonage every 2 weeks. 50% inoculated for malolactic fermentation.

Bouquet
Red grapefruit, honey dew melon and citrus rind overlay hints of white peach. Green pistachio nuts and lemon meringue notes from the barrel ferment and French oak add additional complexity.

Palate
Tight, refined and elegant but with abundant fruit weight this wine shows perfect balance. Nectarine and citrus fruits overlay hints of creamy nuttiness with added texture from the lees contact. Beautifully integrated French oak and zesty acidity provide length and finish to the wine.

Warm to hot. Very early ripening.

Harvest Date
20th & 28th February, 2007

Winemaking
100% Tank fermented in stainless steel.

Bouquet
Lifted nectarine, lime and citrus rind with hints of gooseberry, cut grass, citrus blossom.

Palate
Fresh and tight with abundant fruit weight, the lime, citrus and cut grass characters from the Semillon dominate the palate. Texture and structure from the Semillon, and minerally acidity give exceptional length and finish to the wine.
